Love is love. But what if the fight for equality gets in the way of building a relationship?

Lorcan Barratt has never considered himself relationship material. After his parents made it perfectly clear they’d never welcome a partner of his into their home, he learned to love his own company and can’t imagine sharing his life with another. After a single passionate kiss with Eric Kavanagh—the night before he travels to Canada for three months—Lorcan’s no longer sure he wants to be on his own. The problem is, he has no idea what sharing his life with someone else might entail.

Eric Kavanagh grew up in a loving and supportive family and always assumed he’d end up in a committed relationship. Sure that he’s found the one, Eric doesn’t worry about the fact that Lorcan has no experience when it comes to love and relationships. They are good together, so what could possibly go wrong?

When both men get involved in the marriage equality referendum in Ireland, it appears to bring them even closer together until Lorcan’s insecurities get the upper hand and he shuts Eric out. Will the fight for a yes-vote cost them their relationship or will they be able to find a balance between the love they share and the need for equality?

Author Bio

Helena Stone can’t remember a life before words and reading. After growing up in a household where no holiday or festivity was complete without at least one new book, it’s hardly surprising she now owns more books than shelf space while her Kindle is about to explode.

The urge to write came as a surprise. The realisation that people might enjoy her words was a shock to say the least. Now that the writing bug has well and truly taken hold, Helena can no longer imagine not sharing the characters in her head and heart with the rest of the world.

Having left the hustle and bustle of Amsterdam for the peace and quiet of the Irish Country side she divides her time between reading, writing, long and often wet walks with the dog, her part-time job in a library, a grown-up daughter and her ever loving and patient husband.

Cover Design: Meredith Russell

The Fireman & The Cop

Rescuing a cop from a burning precinct is in Max’s job description; falling in love was never part of the deal.

Max Harrison moved from the city to take up a role as assistant to the mayor, while also a volunteer firefighter. When he meets Finn Ryan in Ellery, he falls in lust that burns as hot as the fires an arsonist is setting in town.

Finn Ryan is a cop, and somehow he’s attracted trouble. Going back into a fire to rescue the town drunk is just the start. Now he has to rely on the man he’s falling for to make sure it doesn’t end with him dying.

The blurb pretty much says it all, except that The Fireman & The Cop is one hell of a mystery novel. I love all the characters, even the town drunk.

Max and Finn are awesome main characters. Daniel and Kieran are great supporting characters, and you can actually feel the bond of friendship between Max, Daniel and Kieran. The relationship that Max and Finn share make it so that one moment you want to hug them, the next you want to rent a couple of 18-wheelers to pull their heads out of their asses.

Overall it's a great read, and I give it 5 out of 5 stars.

The Teacher & The Soldier

Soldier, Daniel Skylar, falls hard and heavy for school teacher Luke Fitzgerald. How can he make him stay in Ellery?

Luke Fitzgerald left Ellery Mountain for college and vowed never to come back. When his abusive father is murdered, he has no choice but to return. Luke only goes home to sell off his share of the Ellery Mountain Cabins, but everything changes when he meets the son of the other owner. Daniel Skylar lives every day to the limit and sees a future in Luke.

It doesn’t matter what Daniel says, or how much he needs Luke. Luke isn’t staying once everything is sold off. Surely Daniel can understand that what they have between them is just a two-week fling; there is no way it could be love.

Can Daniel persuade Luke that they are in love, and they can build a future together?

In typical RJ Scott style, which I really like, Ms. Scott gives us a look into the life of Daniel Skylar, son of Brenda Skylar, co-owner of Ellery Mountain Cabins. We learn more about Daniel's life in the military, his dreams and aspirations. I really like the tall, dark and sexy Daniel. Being former military like Daniel, I can easily relate to Daniel. I think of all the characters I've read about so far, Daniel is the one I like the most.

This is no way detracts from my enjoyment of other characters. I like them all, and I really like the story line.

Having been brought up in an abusive household, I can also really relate to Luke. Ms. Scott's depiction of Luke's life, right down to the description of his past bruises is spot on.

The more I read about Ellery and it's inhabitants, the more I think I'd like live there.

Well done, Ms. Scott. 5 out of 5 stars!

The Carpenter & The Actor

Jason is running from tragedy, hiding in Ellery, but it’s only when he meets Kieran that he finds love.

Jason McInnery, hounded by the paparazzi after his brother’s death, runs to the one place where he hopes people won’t sell him out. The place where he was born. Hiding in the tourist cabins at Ellery Mountain Resort out of season, he thinks he finally has room to breathe.

Kieran Dexter is a man who knows what he wants; gorgeous actor Jason tied up and begging. When the hottest sex he’s ever had turns to feelings of love, he’s faced with convincing Jason to give them a try and stay in Ellery.

Another well-written novel from RJ Scott.

To be honest, while I enjoyed learning more about Kieran and the gang, this story just didn't do it for me.

Yes, the characters were well developed and the plot solid, I just didn't enjoy it as much as I have her other works.

I give it a 4 out of 5 stars.

“I do have something else to tell you about. Don't yell at me, okay? He, um, turned nineteen a few weeks ago,” Brice said quickly.

“Nineteen!” Morgan blew, swerving to avoid hitting the car in front of him. “Nineteen? What are you trying to do to me, Brice? Put me out of business? First, you tell me he needs to be watched. Then you tell me he is going to stay with you, in your one-bedroom apartment. Then you tell me he's at least two years older than any of the kids we take! If I didn't know better, I would think you wanted a playmate! These kids are hustlers, Brice. They have one thing on their minds! If this kid is even left in a room alone with any of the other boys, I've got to deal with a 'contributing to the delinquency of a minor' charge or he's hit with a statutory rape charge! When it involves two boys under my roof, I'm out of work and in jail as fast as City Hall can do it. Don't you realize they are always looking for a way to shut me down as it is? I bet you made a promise to Carol that I would take him, too! What in the hell were you thinking about, Brice?”

“I read your file on him.” Brice remained perfectly calm. “Morgan, you taught me to never give up on a kid, no matter how hard it was. You've got pages written on him. Your last entry was over six months ago. Morgan, its Gregory Wescott,” Brice said.
Shelly always had a goal to get a book in print. Well, that goal has been met. Another coming June 1, 2017, and one more still in the works. Always finding writing to be a way to escape into another world, M/M fiction is her passion and causing her beautiful boys a bit of agony is just what she does. None of her characters are flawless and most are pretty damn messed up! But they always persist, always try to be the best men they can be and hopefully find a kindred spirit along the way. Shelly is a mother, grandmother, and has a Bachelor’s in Social Services. Come on over to her Facebook page for current and upcoming release info. While she doesn't post about what she's having for dinner or what movie she's watching, she will give you info on her writing when there is news to share. Just remember, no matter who you are or what beliefs you practice, love is love and we all deserve to love.
